Teenage Bicycle Rider Crushed to Death by Truck in Queens

From: New York attorney Gary E. Rosenberg (personal injury and accident attorney and lawyer; serving Brooklyn Queens Bronx; Queens Injury Lawyer)

On Monday, August 2, 2010, a teenage boy, Ferderich Enbre - news reports differ as to whether he was 13 or 14 years-old - was riding his bicycle at Fresh Pond Road and Eliot Avenue in Middle Village, Queens County, New York. He had a horrible bicycle accident.

He was struck by an 18-wheeler, tractor trailer as it turned right at about 1:30 PM. He was

knocked down by the truck and, according to a surveillance film, was then crushed under the back wheels of the truck.

The young man was taken to Wykoff Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. According to authorities, Ferderich Enbre lived around the block from where he was killed.

Police say that the truck driver did not see the teenager and only realized there had been an accident when he became aware that his truck hit something. The truck driver remained at the scene; no criminal charges are expected to be brought.

Sources say that the intersection is dangerous, with children crossing against the light and car horns honking and such.
