BROOKLYN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS HURT IN EAST SIDE BUS ACCIDENT

On Friday May 21,2010 at about 11:00 AM, a school bus crashed while transporting children
from P.S. 149 in Brooklyn, who were on their way to Lincoln Center.
Police say that the bus had just crossed the 59th Street Bridge when it was waved through an intersection by a crossing guard. As it was turning, it was cut off and the bus driver slammed on the breaks, colliding at a low speed with a car that was in front of the bus.
The accident left at least 20 kids injured in the accident. Some of the accident victims were taken to New York Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center. None of their injuries are considered serious.
The bus is registered to the Consolidated Bus Transit Company of Brooklyn, New York.
The uninjured students returned to their school.
No damage was reported to the bus.
